August 25, 2011: Our little pirate

This is one of my favorite pictures of Luca. It's from the day he was born and he's giving daddy the pirate eye. Takes after his Auntie Mony and mama.

August 21: 2 weeks old

It's hard to believe that Luca is 2 weeks old. Already we've seen quite a few changes in him. He is more alert, recognizes our voices and smiles! He has us pretty smitten.

He is a picture of the 4 generations of Cantieri boys - Great-Grandpa Irwin, Grandpa Larry, Dad Chris and baby Luca.

August 14: The first week

This first week with our little nugget has been absolutely amazing. It has been so much fun getting to know little Luca and seeing his personality develop. We can't stop staring at him and kissing him. He is just so darn cute.

Look at how tiny he is. But that won't last for long with the way he feeds!

Luca loves the car seat and going for rides. Peek-a-boo.

Playing with mommy and daddy.

Luca is such a snuggle bug. He is happiest when he is nuzzled up with mom or dad.

Luca is such a little snorer. It is so cute.

August 7, 2011: Nugget's Birth Day!

At 11:20 AM, Luca William Cantieri was born, weighing 6 lbs 13 oz and measuring 19 3/4 inches. We could not be happier. It truly is the best feeling in the world when you see your little one for the first time. He is absolutely perfect and we could not love him more.

About the name: Lucca is where Chris' family is from in Italy. When Chris and I visited the town of Lucca in 2007, we both knew immediately that if we were ever had a boy, that Luca was the name we'd give him. William is both Cristy's grandfather and father's name. Grandpa Bill passed away this year and was never able to meet Luca. He was very dear to us and what better way to honor him than to give Luca his name.

August 6: 38 Weeks and 4 days - It's time!!!

My water broke this morning at 8:15 AM! A wave of excitement rushed over me, knowing that I would soon meet little nugget. We are at the hospital now and things are progressing well. My labor has been great so far. I am having contractions but I am not feeling them too much which is good. I have been able to walk around and get some rest. We both are getting anxious to meet the little one and to finally know... is nugget a boy or a girl!

The next time we post we will be proud parents of nugget!
